Stress, Trauma & Anxiety Management that Empowers Communities
Solution-Focused & Action-Oriented Resilience for Individuals, Families, & Workspaces
Hello! I’m Dr. Deb Gutierrez, executive director of Rising Hope. I understand stress, trauma, and anxiety can be overwhelming—I’ve seen it firsthand in classrooms, in my son’s struggles, and through my own journey with PTSD. Mastering natural techniques to manage the brain's anxiety pathways transformed my son's life, and I’m eager to share them with you. My personal and professional experience fuels our mission to build community resilience and empower individuals, families, and organizations to thrive amid challenges.

Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

If I knew the answer to that question I would definitely tell you. Our son, Tyler, developed a severe mental illness in his early twenties, yet this humble, well-loved former state champion pole-vaulter became my hero. Tyler’s dedication to building psychological resilience with natural mind-body approaches was truly inspiring. I was shocked that such simple, easy-to learn self-regulation techniques, could so quickly bring the autonomic nervous system back into balance and relieve symptoms. Tyler's successful journey became the foundation for my post-doctoral research, and ultimately led to the launching of Rising Hope in 2021.

The Neuroeducation of Stress & Anxiety

Trauma affects us all, regardless of age, gender, class, or race. I've experienced moments in life that brought me to my knees, triggering stress-related symptoms I couldn't manage on my own. While my faith played a significant role in my personal resilience, I had no idea that the human body has built-in mechanisms for controlling anxiety. It's still hard to believe how many symptoms of anxiety can be managed without pharmaceutical aids. If I had a mental health coach to teach me effective techniques, I would have been better equipped to support Tyler's efforts. I also could have reduced the number of sleepless nights, foggy days, and the toll on my physical and mental health. Now, I'm here to help you!
