Substance Use Disorders & Recovery

The patterns built when the brain encounters stressful experiences in childhood interfere with self-regulation as an adult. There is strong evidence supporting the number of Adverse Childhood Experiences and developing a substance use disorder (SUD). An ACE score of 4 nearly doubles the risk of becoming an alcoholic, while an ACE score of 5 or higher increases the likelihood of using illegal drugs or becoming addicted by seven to 10 times (6). At Rising Hope, we understand how learning to cope with childhood adversity can lead to extreme coping behaviors. We are here to help individuals foster resilience, learn self-regulation skills, and rewire neural networks programmed for anxiety.
